testsuite - typos and Cygwin problems

Herewith attached an "un-debugged" version of the testsuite proposal 
list_read_4.f > the return of the "undead"?

This fails with current cvs but runs correctly with gfortran, including the 
patch that I posted, g77 or Digital Fortran.

Bud, did you have time to have another go at the patch?
