Thanks for your brief explanation anyway, Benjamin. It helped me at
least (and I really should have figured out the "reference" *type*
doesn't get prefixed with "_M_" since it's a *type* - it was late at
night ;)

As far as shared_ptr and friends go ...
Feedback on the Boost list has been very positive [1], most the
copyright holders of the relevant parts have given permission for
modified versions of their files to be included in libstdc++ and
GPL'd. Beman Dawes has offered to contact Greg Colvin if he doesn't
read the list and respond. I'll send the modified files to this list
tonight. They will need tweaking once the final TR1 is out, but the
sooner I share them the sooner someone will spot my mistakes and I can
get to work on testsuites and docs.
