libstdc++-v3 and GCC 2.95.3

On a project I'm working on, we recently started making use of the "real"
iostream classes included in libstdc++-v3 (actually, the code was originally
written on Windows where we already have a complete C++ library
implementation). For our Solaris port, however, we are having troubles.
Currently, we are using GCC 2.95.2 on the machine (with the C++ library that
ships with that version of GCC).
Yesterday, I attempted to take libstdc++-2.92 (the latest release, right?)
and "install" it into a fresh GCC 2.95.3 (also the latest, I believe) source
tree, but was unsuccessful. Although everything appeared to build okay, the
'make install' procedure does not seem to know how to handle the new
libstdc++. The documentation that came with libstdc++-2.92 doesn't mention
anything about GCC 2.95 - only 2.9[67] and CVS code. Is the current GCC
release (2.95.3) not supported by libstdc++-v3?
I have a copy of libstdc++-2.91 here which DOES mention GCC 2.95.2 - but I
can't get it to build using the instructions therein (against either GCC
2.95.2 or GCC 2.95.3). Help! <smile>
By the way, I did try the latest snapshot of GCC (from 20000402) and it
builds and installs fine. Also, our "problem" code works great within that
environment. Unfotunately, since the libraries produced by the snapshot are
not binary-compatible with GCC 2.95.[23] (the "official" GCC release), we
can't use it.
So, I guess I'm asking - is there any way to get libstdc++-2.92 to work
with GCC 2.95.2 or 2.95.3? If not, are there any known problems with
getting libstdc++-2.91 to work with GCC 2.95.2 on Solaris (since I can't
seem to get it to build)?
