Sorted now.

I checked /usr/include/java/lang/Throwable.h and discovered those
methods were missing. This is because the Debian packages libgcj3 and
libgc3-dev (containing headers) are out of sync.

Upgrading to libgcj4 and libgcj4-dev on Debian unstable fixed the
problem and it built just fine. I mention it here just in case someone
else has the same problem.
