Boosters, FreeBSD hackers, and I'm sure tons of others are calling this

I agree.  Preliminary discussion is hugely more vulnerable to bicycle
shed color disagreements, where participants may feel that all of the
colors have not been completely examined, compared to tested working
code, where others will have more confidence that due diligence has been
applied.

In all of the open source world I have seen, posting code is always better.
