Ultimately this will be up to the person OKing your change, but from  
my perspective, I don't see a nice fit to something more general.    
People have been playing with persistence for decades, and yet, I  
don't know of anything much coming down the pike that offers the  
opportunity to unify much in this area.  I'm sure I'm just ignorant,  
others in the know would have to say.
