head: `-1' option is obsolete; use `-n 1'
A known problem, that has been discussed in other threads.
It is believed that we can't immediately switch to -n 1 because we still
support older systems that don't have it. Thus we need autoconf tests,
and makefile changes, and it may be a while before all of this happens.
Meanwhile, you can make this work by defining environment variables.
Try "_POSIX2_VERSION=199209". See the coreutils docementation.
There is also disgreement about which posix standard coreutils should
conform to by default. Apparently it defaults to the 2001 standard if
the C library claims to support it, which some find surprising and
undesirable. It may be a while before this dispute is resolved.
It is probably useful to open a bugzilla bug report for this if we don't
already have one. Just searching for coreutils, I don't see one using
that term.
