That article will be revised later this week, as soon as my SPARC system finishes its evaluations of GCC optimizations.

I'm also rewriting an earlier article I'd written to compare the floating-point performance of several languages and compilers for Linux; the new "number crunching article" will be out before the end of the year, with a half-dozen benchmarks and better analysis.
