Writing a frontend to gcc for a new language developed at Ericsson

Hi,

I am a developer working at the telephone company Ericsson.

At Ericsson I have been involved in developing a completely
internal language called HLPLEX. This language is very well suitable
for writing realtime applications and has many other nice features
that I think could be beneficial to others. So that is why I am
thinking about writing a new frontend for gcc. However I am not
sure about the legal aspects of doing so.

I am negotiating with Ericsson about their views on this task. So
I am still not certain whether this is ok from their point of view
or not.

But I would like to ask you what your opinions are? What are the
rules for writing a new frontend? What do I have to do to get started?

I appreciate if you can give me any ideas.

  Thanks!

     Mikael Wittberg
