Ah, but I include algorithmic changes in the set of allowable changes as well, surely, that is sufficient. If not, please provide a testcase that cannot be solved this way, and the proof that it cannot be solved. :-)


I'm working on putting a utility in place that get help have a picture
on what is going on, instead of just throwing out numbers.

Hum... Sounds interesting, the trick will be to make it reflective of what users will experience with the compiler, as in the end, that is about what we have to optimize for.
