Has there been any thought given to bumping this requirement to some
non-ancient release like Solaris 8 or 9? I for one haven't had access to
a 2.7 machine in nearly two years.
The differences can be significant, as evidenced by a late fix prior to
releasing 3.3. (Of course we wouldn't like to introduce regressions on
any release, but in practice it's becoming difficult to support anything
prior to 2.7 now. Similarly, on GNU/Linux certain old glibc releases are
gradually being dropped as I understand it.)
