Wouldn't you need some intraprocedural info to do this right?  Any 
function that isn't a leaf function can throw anything thrown by 
functions it calls.  It sounds complicated to get this right, and may 
require info that isn't easy to get from gcc, since gcc primarily looks 
at one function at a time.

The more work you manage to do on your own, the more likely that you 
will get useful help.

GCC is a volunteer project, and the volunteers always have more tasks to 
work on than time available, so what limited help we can give usually 
goes to projects that seem likely to be successful.

There is no need to register the project before you begin.

There is no formal process for registering projects.  We have an 
informal one in the "Open Projects" page on our web site, but a lot of 
the info in there is out-of-date.  There is another list on the CVS read 
access page for projects that have substantial amounts of code already 
written.

The internals documentation that you are already looking at, and the 
sources themselves.  You may not find this info very helpful at the 
beginning though.
