There seems to be some confusion, so I want to emphasize this:
PR 8146 seems to be solved by applying
http://gcc.gnu.org/ml/gcc-patches/2002-08/txt00034.txt
and this patch causes no additional regressions.
It has received no negative commentary.

Someone please approve and apply it.
There was an additional patch in the same thread (which does something
to PR 7591). Do not confuse it with this one.
