Host and target support are fairly independent here. Also, supporting
bootstrapping from the native compiler is separate from supporting
bootstrapping with a previous GCC. (Are there current systems for which
the native compiler is still only K&R?)
We really ought to try to maintain proper lists of systems for which
support is dropped, to include in the caveats lists for each new release;
as is target maintainers just drop those they judge obsolete, without
detailed documentation.

I've suggested the test of whether Y2K fixes were provided for that
operating system version as some indication of whether it is at all
maintained in recent years. Other criteria might be whether it is the
last version of that operating system supported by some hardware, and
whether any build success or failure reports have been made for that
system with GCC 3.0 or 2.95.
