K6 is recognised as 586 since it doesn't contain all the instructions
of the 686.

Yes; I used to submit K6 test runs, and there was only me doing so
regularly (sometimes Andris Pravenis (sp?)).  I don't bootstrap on
that machine much now, because it's so slow compared to my Duron 8-).
But there have been times where 586 doesn't bootstrap, but 386, 486
and 686 do.
