The machine itself has occasionally been hit by odd kernel bugs causing hard
drive lossage, and I think a power failure or two. Some of the developers
who volunteer their time as sysadmins have been restoring lost emails as
they are discovered and reported, but it's a time-consuming job, and the
US Congress won't permit Red Hat to clone the sysadmins in order to make
the recovery go faster.
