successfully installed gcc-3.0

I just installed gcc-3.0 on a DEC 500/333 AlphaStation using Tru64-UNIX v5.1.
The only way I could get it to compile was by using the native cc compiler with
gnu's make-3.79.1.
Here is the output from the config.guess script:
alphaev5-dec-osf5.1
Can I delete the src and obj directories that I used to build the executable, or
are they necessary for the operation of gcc?
