Fortran has an `obsolescent/obsolete' annex since Fortran 90 (1991).
We've an appendix to the Standard that describes all obsoleted
functionality [just so that people would recognise how this old stuff
was supposed to work - at least that's the rationale for this appendix].
Recently (i.e., in March) we discussed whether to make this appendix
more precise (i.e., as precise as a real part of the Standard) or less
precise (more like an executive summary).
Hah ! No concensus of course. "If we make it precise than different
vendors won't implement different implementations of this" vs. "this is
obsolete, dammit - it's supposed to go away".
