This could be useful, but not (IMHO) workable. Right now the platform
config files are a bit, mmmmmmmm, tangled. There's a lot of overlap for
slightly-different systems, common characteristics, etc. The different
languages are much more cleanly separated (okay, okay, all things are
relative :-).
Cleaning it up is one of the goals, I believe. And I think that once this
were done, we'd be able to split things up like you suggest.
