For the record, I disagree.  I think we should work with at least one
easy-to-obtain shell on each platform, preferably one shipped with
the system by the vendor -- but not necessarily all.

I agree with you that it is better to make the scripts use the right
shell than to document the right incantation.  Users do not care
how the software gets built; they just want it to work.
