Both these questions actually concern the `linker' on your system. Try
to see if `man ld' tells you how this is done.
The only reason to use g77 when combining .o files in an executable is
that g77 knows to search the libg2c.a run time library and the library
containing math routines (sin, cos, exp, log, etc).
