The Site of Alan Cox also mentions egcs 1.1.2 (gcc 2.91.66) as a good
compiler to compile linux kernels.

There was also a thread on the kernel mailing lists about the right
compiler to use two weeks ago. Linus and Co. seem to use gcc 2.91.66.
