Good point!
BTW, by private e-mail from Robert Lipe I have learned that CVS has a
``join'' feature. So -- for future release branches -- we could simply
join mainline/contrib with release-branch/contrib.
Little work, nice effect -- the question is ``No problems?''

Absolutely. You see, what I'm suggesting is that -- like wwwdocs, where we
have only a single version of the install directory for all releases -- we
also have only a single version of contrib as well.
It seems that with CVS that's easy to do, but then of course I may be
missing something significant here!
