Thank you Mrs Johnson for putting in (by my reckoning) an inordinate amount of
hours to put some bounds on this problems.
I am sure you are aware of the old adage "A stitch in time saves nine". If some
developer/maintainers had examined the check results many month ago this would
have been much easier to fix. This inattention to sound procedures was raised
in the discussion leading to the release of gcc-4.2.0. One participant in that
discussion even advocated abandoning gcc-4.2.x series altogether and we all
have to thank Prof. Sikora for persevering in the case of quadratic memory
consumption with a remark as follows:
yup, looks like a nice bullet for 4.2.0 release.
with such features 4.2 will be widely /dev/nulled.
I took the liberty of making you a CC on PR 32314, as with your presentation at
the 2005 GCC meeting shows that you are a proponent for decimal floating point.
Your calming influence will be appreciated.
Thanks again.
