On a SunOS hyperman 5.8 Generic_108528-19 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-5_10 
with gcc-3.0.3 I try to build 3.3 with the SAME ../configure options: 
 
../configure --enable-shared --enable-version-specific-runtime-libs 
--with-gnu-as --with-gnu-ld 
 
followed by make bootstrap-lean results in:
