Have you tried building a more recent gcc from the 3.0 series?
I think later ones ought to work. I know for certain that
3.1 (current cvs trunk) will build on RHL 6.2, as that is
what I use daily.
If 3.0.2 still fails for you, tell me and we can investigate
the problem.
If you can't test this, please tell me and I'll simply close the PR.
