Linux/Alpha kernel compiled with egcs-19980721 causes "oops" in shutdown

Linux kernel compiled on Alpha with a help of egcs-19980721 snapshot
seems to boot and run without any special problems but in a shutdown
sequence creates a series of faults. It is always the same and it
looks like that:
rpc.mountd(247): Oops 0
....
rpc.nfsd(256): Oops 0
....
inetd(225): Oops 0
....
inetd(225): Oops 0
....
lpd(236): Oops 0
....
portmap(214): Oops 0
....
Reasons recorded in log files are always the same:
Unable to handle kernel paging request at virtual address 0000000000000020
This behaviour is consistent for 2.0.33 and 2.0.35 kernels compiled for
Alpha EB64+. The same kernels recompiled with 1.0.3a egcs release do
not exhibit such behaviour.
This, from what I know, may be a bug in Linux kernel sources but
something did change between 1.0.3a and the current sources.
Snapshot I used was configured with './configure --enable-haifa';
for 1.0.3a only default setting were used. The snapshot definitely
has some optimizer bugs, as I reported yesterday.
