ok, i'll add it to my list of things to do.  i'm hoping to submit a patch
later this afternoon that is mostly whitespace and commenting style fixes,
but it also includes the last patch i submitted for more error checking. 
hopefully it will get committed quick and then i'll submit a patch to
remove the use of my is_iso_c flag.
