the new operator does not have to return void*.

auto obj=new MyObject() should let me return a handle.

Good evening from Germany Mr. and Mrs.,

i can translate, but a shared mutex may not exist. You see, a mutex protects a shared resource. A shared mutex to a shared resource is something not even me can understand.

My proposal:

mutex.lock(accessmode::readonly)
