55043.cc tests failing in 4_8-branch for profile-mode

Hi,

a few days ago I noticed that the 55043.cc testcases fail in 4_8-branch 
for profile-mode. At first I thought that a clean-up had to be applied 
to the branch, but in fact now I think we should be able to keep the 
functionality in the branch. Shouldn't be a big deal given that mainline 
is already fine.

Can you please look a bit into it?
