I still believe that is the only possible explanation. Anyway, look
inside libstdc++.log if you want to dig deeper.

Nope. Because an abi breakage can happen also for many other reasons.

By the way, I think this question is more suited for gcc-help, doesn't
have much to do with the *development* work. Worst case, it's a bug (I
don't think so), and in that case would belong to Bugzilla.
