[PATCH, v3] Potential solution to librt issue.

I reverted the patch, because, really, we are pursuing a completely different approach, not because the patch is at fault of causing any regression in the testsuite of the library. In my opinion is even misleading mentioning 36924 in the reversion. Anyway, let's just revert, close 36924, and go ahead with the real work.
