I did something in the attached patch (not even compiled) but I'm not 
sure it's the right approach at all.  The idea is to allow inserting 
language-specific stuff in the config/*.h files.

Note that it's the first time I touch specs, and I'm not sure if this 
actually could work for the -static case.
