Well well well... the chances we end up with very similar proposals at 
nearly the same time are very low; but for the best.  We both propagate the 
allocator all the way up the _Node_base class and use its localized pointer 
type over there.

But on the other hand I would discourage the iterator being of that pointer 
type and simply letting it being a raw pointer because it's an iterator 
quite simply ;)  I mean I don't see the need adding too much overhead. 
Maybe allocators should contains localized iterator typedefs because they 
are different than pointers.
