I know, thanks and sorry again about the rush. Let's make this deal, 
then: if by the time 4.2 branches, for some reason (I can imagine some 
;) you cannot find the time to further improve valarray in the large as 
planned, I will take care of returning to this issue and commit anything 
you want, among the existing possibilities.
