Looks like it.  My libstdc++.log file is filled with things like

/u/jbuck/gnu.sol2/bin/ld: skipping incompatible /depot/libiconv/lib/libiconv.so when searching for -liconv
/u/jbuck/gnu.sol2/bin/ld: cannot find -liconv
