It looks safe enough for stage 3 mainline to me, too.  Like the DR says,
other implementations already do this, and I can't imagine existing code
that could break.

Is 3.4 open for checkins again?  I've been completely out of touch.

You're proposing to build a box with a light on top of it.  The light is
supposed to go off when you carry the box into a room that has a Unicorn
in it.  How do you show that it works?
