[Patch] Fix the _GLIBCXX_ASSERT lossage

Hi,

the below is what I'd like to apply: basically -D_GLIBCXX_ASSERT is now
always on by default via --cxxflags in scripts/testsuite_flags.in. If I'm
not mistaken, we agreed to have that.

Tested x86-linux, will wait 'til tomorrow.
