availability of mmap

I don't even know the list of all V3 targets....

So, I don't know what that list intersected with the list of targets
with mmap would look like, but it would be interesting indeed.

You might want to ping Geoff Keating, or Ian Lance Taylor, as the PCH
implementation has to know all the details of mmap on a particular host.

I suspect you'll need to know more than just if mmap is available or
unavailable. You'll also need to know mmap characteristics as well.
