libstdc++ 2.8.0 installation error on gcc 2.95.3

hi

i have installed gcc2.95.3 on a redhat linux 9
machine. my machine has the default gcc 3.2.2.

now i am trying to install libstdc++ 2.8.0 and i get
the following error on make

strerror.c:461:conflicting types for 'syserr_list'
/usr/include/bits/syserr_list.h:28: previous
declaration of 'syserr_list'
make[1]:***[stderror.o] Error 1

Please guide me .. i am a newbie to this
