I'm getting a lot of bug reports dealing with MT io and string in v2,
that have been fixed with v3 (both from the net and from Red Hat). It's
incredibly annoying. I'll try to pluck these bug reports and put them in
the testsuite when/if I can find them. People seem to be especially
unwilling to come up with MT test cases.
