Based on report seen on binutils list by Daniel Jacobowitz.

make[3]: *** No rule to make target `/big/fsf/projects/autoconf/gcc-1/i686-pc-linux-gnu/libstdc++-v3/../gcc/gthr.h', needed by `i686-pc-linux-gnu/bits/gthr.h'.  Stop.
