patches to be merged into gcc-3_1-branch

If you're being cc'd, I'm hoping to get your attention. 

I'm also hoping to be more aggressive about moving patches over from
the trunk to the branch than durin g the gcc-3.0.x release cycle.

Please move the following patches from the trunk over to the
branch. In particular, please move the patch with your name on the
ChangeLog entry. If there's a problem, or an unresolved issue, please
let me know.
