complex config cruft?

I think the problem was solved.

| gcc-2.95.2 had some problems (ok a lot of problems) with the whole
| complex thing, especially on alpha. That's now a thing of the past,
| and I'm thinking these bits are too. Since 2.95 compatibility has been
| completely thrown out the window at this point, I see no reason to
| keep these bits.

Feel free to remove them if noone else complains.
