Yes, no and no. I _do_ define `CC' and `BOOT_CFLAGS' for configure,
but that shouldn't affect the value of `CXX'. I'll definitely look
into it when I've a bit more time.
Maybe I should see what happens if I use another make; I'm currently
using GNU make 3.79 (because of the oh-so-nice jobserver feature),
and it's worked fine up to now for bootstrapping GCC, but I had a few
weird problems with another set of makefiles (which worked fine with
gmake 3.76).
Sometime this week, I hope ...
