Just a quick update. CVS gcc with this in the gcc/ChangeLog

allow -fnew-exceptions to work when building libstdc++-v3

Thus, the flag combinations such as

-fnew-exceptions -fhonor-std -fsquangle 

work now. I encourage people to try something new. . .
