Andrew,
   I'll double check with my patch from http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=41991#c10
but originally ecj1 was failing as shown in the backtrace of http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=41991#c1.
Looking at the output from gdb in comment 1, I notice that patch to ecj.jar is nowhere shown.
This isn't surprising since the current Makefile.in/am use ecjx_LDFLAGS before it is even
assigned. I wonder if we shouldn't work through all of these on the off chance that this is
the accumulation of a number of different build errors like that.
