IA64 Java build problem

While trying to look at PR tree-optimization/32941, I started by trying
to do a boostrap build with Java on an IA64 Linux box.  I did not hit
the comparision problem listed in the PR but I did die with:

Has anyone seen this problem or know what could be causing it?
