Yes, javaCompiler compiled itself :-) Actually, the screenshots on the 
homepage are taken from compiling javaCompiler.

Because javaCompiler uses GCJ as it's core, I'd say yes, GCJ was used...

I'd like to add output support for MacOSX but have no mac and no easy 
access to one. So, this won't happen in the near future.

JavaCompiler for Linux or MacOSX is possible, I would have to adapt all 
used utilities. Actually, I already have the needed gcj builds (they're 
needed to build the gcj compilers which run on linux).

But because this would double the things I've to keep up to date, I 
think this won't happen in the near future neither. I guess most of the 
people use windows (althought I like and use linux more if possible).
