Offhand I don't know of anything.  It is possible there is some PPC
libffi bug that could cause crashes, maybe only with certain argument
types or something like that.

BTW, is this PPC or PPC64?

There have been bug fixes in the libffi PPC support but I think
they've been ported to the various branches as well.  I didn't really
do a complete check.

Maybe Andrew knows more.
